The Mountain Banjo is a true American Folk instrument. According to lore, this traditional five-string instrument was first heard in Virginia around 1810. Our banjos are made from solid Cherry wood with a fine contrasting hardwood veneer on the fretboard and peghead. An attractive bead pattern is turned into the rim and a stretched authentic goat-skin pot is inserted for that signature banjo twang.
This mountain banjo is suited to old time and mountain music. With an open-backed design, it is lighter and more muted than a bluegrass banjo. Tuned GDGBD with a 27-inch scale length.
